Description

This Best margarita recipe showcases a delightful balance of añejo tequila, fresh citrus juices, and homemade sweet and sour mix. It’s easy to prepare and serves up a refreshing drink perfect for gatherings or a quiet evening at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
  • 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 57 small limes)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)

Instructions

  • Simmer water and sugar in a saucepan until it forms a sugar syrup, then cool it down.
  • Mix fresh lime and lemon juice into the cooled syrup to make your sweet and sour mix.
  • Prepare your glass by rubbing lime around the rim and dipping it in kosher salt, then fill the glass with ice.
  • In a shaker, combine the añejo tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur with ice, and shake until well chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

For a slushier texture, blend the ingredients with ice instead of shaking.
Adjust the sweetness by altering the amount of sugar in the sweet and sour mix.
