- 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
- 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
- 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
- 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 5 – 7 small limes)
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)
Instructions
- Simmer water and sugar in a saucepan until it forms a sugar syrup, then cool it down.
- Mix fresh lime and lemon juice into the cooled syrup to make your sweet and sour mix.
- Prepare your glass by rubbing lime around the rim and dipping it in kosher salt, then fill the glass with ice.
- In a shaker, combine the añejo tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur with ice, and shake until well chilled.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes
For a slushier texture, blend the ingredients with ice instead of shaking.
Adjust the sweetness by altering the amount of sugar in the sweet and sour mix.
