- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet
- flaked salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Heat a 12-inch cast iron skillet over low heat for about 5 minutes. Add butter and melt completely.
- Mix the melted butters with brown sugar and granulated sugar, then remove the skillet from heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and egg yolks, then mix them into the skillet mixture quickly.
- Stir in vanilla extract and combine with the dry ingredients until just mixed in, thick consistency may be expected.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and smooth the top, adding flaked salt as desired.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until mostly set in the center.
Notes
For an extra indulgent treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
