Description
These Raspberry Nutella Heart Pies are a delightful blend of flaky pie crust, rich Nutella, and fresh strawberries. Perfect for a sweet treat any time!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package pre-made pie crusts
- nutella
- 1 cup diced strawberries
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1–2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare the strawberry filling by washing and dicing the strawberries. Mix them with sugar and cornstarch in a bowl until well coated and set aside to macerate.
- Unroll the first pie crust on a clean surface. Cut out heart shapes and place them on a greased or parchment-lined cookie sheet, leaving space between them. Use all dough, re-rolling if necessary.
- Spread 1-2 teaspoons of Nutella in the center of each heart. For easier spreading, microwave the Nutella for 15-20 seconds to soften.
- Add a spoonful of the strawberry filling on top of the Nutella for each heart.
- Unroll the second pie crust and cut out a matching number of hearts. Place these on top of the filled hearts, aligning them as closely as possible. Seal the edges with a fork.
- Create small vent holes in the tops of the pies using a skewer to prevent steaming in the oven.
- Whisk together the egg and water until light yellow and uniform. Adjust water if necessary.
- Brush the egg mixture lightly over the tops of each pie.
- Bake for about 12-14 minutes until deep golden brown.
Notes
You can use homemade pie crust for a fresher taste.
Microwaving Nutella makes it easier to spread, so consider this step before applying it.
These pies can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
