Description

Enjoy a delightful Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish featuring a creamy filling and a crispy puff pastry crust. Perfect for breakfast or any special occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 17.3 oz. box puff pastry dough, (2 sheets), thawed but refrigerated
  • ½ cup strawberry jam, other flavors also work
  • 1 tsp orange or lemon zest, (optional)
  • 1 tbsp milk, any type works
  • 1 tbsp turbinado sugar, or use granulated sugar
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375℉ and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar together in a medium bowl until smooth, about 1 minute.
  3. Unfold the puff pastry sheets and lay them out on the baking sheet, keeping them divided into three sections.
  4. Cut 1-inch strips on both sides of the pastry sheet, creating tassels connected at the fold in the center.
  5. Spread the cream cheese filling smoothly over the center section of each pastry sheet.
  6. Mix strawberry jam with orange or lemon zest (if using) and place it on top of the cream cheese filling, using about ¼ cup for each pastry.
  7. Fold the outer slits over the cream cheese filling in a braiding pattern until all slits are folded inwards.
  8. Coat the top of the Danish with milk using a pastry brush.
  9. Sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  10. Bake each pastry for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let the Danish cool for 15 minutes before preparing the optional glaze.
  12. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze until thick yet pourable.
  13. Pour the glaze over the top, let it set, slice, and serve.

Notes

For best results, make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature.
You can substitute any fruit jam for the strawberry jam if desired.
Glaze consistency can be adjusted by adding more sugar or milk.
