- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
- Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk together oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
- Prepare apples by peeling and chopping enough to equal 4 cups; fold them into the batter.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by combining butter, brown sugar, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir frequently until the mixture simmers; then remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the glaze over the warm cake.
Notes
For extra richness, you can add chopped nuts to the batter.
Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature.
