Description

These BBQ ribs are seasoned to perfection with smoked paprika and garlic, ensuring a flavorful bite every time. Oven-roasted until tender, they make an excellent choice for a hearty meal, especially for Father’s Day celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 ½ teaspoons granulated garlic or garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • 2 racks pork baby back ribs, 2.5 to 3 pounds total weight
  • ½ cup bbq sauce, or as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F, positioning an oven rack in the center. Line a large baking sheet with foil and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic, onion powder, brown sugar, cumin, kosher salt, black pepper, and cayenne.
  3. Rinse the ribs under cool water and pat dry with paper towels. If the membrane is still attached, remove it carefully using a knife and paper towel.
  4. Place the ribs, meaty side down, onto a large sheet of heavy duty foil. Rub about one-third of the seasoning over the bony side. Flip the ribs and coat the meaty side with the rest of the seasoning, ensuring even coverage. Wrap the ribs in foil and place in the lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake the ribs for 2 hours or until tender when pierced with a fork.
  6. After baking, switch the oven to the broil setting. Unwrap the foil and transfer the ribs, meaty side down, back to the baking sheet. Coat the bony side with BBQ sauce, then flip and apply sauce generously to the meaty side.
  7. Broil the ribs for 4 to 6 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing into individual ribs.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the ribs in the seasoning overnight in the fridge before cooking.
Adjust the cayenne pepper to meet your spice preference.
Using a thermometer ensures the ribs are perfectly cooked; they should reach an internal temperature of at least 190°F for tenderness.
