Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups salted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 4 cups fresh blueberries
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350℉ and line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together the softened butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until thoroughly combined.
- Gradually add in the flour, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Press approximately 2/3 of the dough mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the remaining sugar and cornstarch. Add the blueberries and stir until evenly coated.
- Spread the blueberry mixture over the pre-baked crust in the pan.
- Crumble the remaining dough mixture over the blueberries evenly.
- Bake for an additional 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- To make the icing, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
- Drizzle the icing over the cooled bars before serving.
Notes
Ensure the butter is softened for easier blending.
Fresh blueberries work best, but frozen blueberries can be used; just thaw and drain them first.
Allow the bars to cool completely before drizzling with icing for best results.
