Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups water, luke warm
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 5 1/2–6 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 large apples, gala, honeycrisp, granny smith, or another tart and sweet variety
- 1/3 cup butter, melted, or very soft
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup karo syrup
- 1/2 15-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast; stir and let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- Add melted butter, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour; mix on low for 2 minutes until well mixed.
- Gradually add an additional 3 1/2 cups of flour, combining on low. You may need up to 1/2 cup more flour, enough when the dough pulls away from the bowl. Knead on low for 3 more minutes.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rest in a warm area for about 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a small rectangle. Roll the dough into a 24" x 12" rectangle about 1/2" thick.
Notes
Feel free to use different types of apples for varied flavors.
Make sure the water is warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast.
Chill any leftover rolls and reheat them for a delicious treat later.
