- 6 granny smith apples, cut into 1/2" pieces
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 8 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a bowl, mix diced apples with lemon juice until coated. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon over the apples, tossing to combine, then transfer to a 9-inch pie plate.
- Drizzle 1/2 cup of caramel sauce over the apple mixture and set it aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine softened butter, 1/2 cup of flour, 2/3 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 3/4 cup of oats. Mix until it forms crumbles.
- Spread the oat topping evenly over the apple mixture.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly and drizzle with additional caramel before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts to the oat topping.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
