Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large very ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup sour cream, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chunks
- 2 oz chopped walnuts
- 2 oz white chocolate chunks or chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 10×5 loaf pan and dust with flour to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
- Stir in the mashed bananas, sour cream, sea salt, and baking soda until fully incorporated.
- Add the flour and cinnamon, gently mixing until just combined without overmixing.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks, walnuts, and white chocolate chunks. Reserve a few for garnish, if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, topping with extra chocolate chunks and walnuts for presentation.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean. Cool before slicing, tenting with foil at 50 minutes to prevent over-browning.
Notes
Make sure your bananas are very ripe for the best flavor.
You can substitute the walnuts with pecans if desired.
Let the bread cool completely before slicing for neat pieces.
