Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 5 cups powdered sugar sifted
- 3–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- 8 Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies crushed into fine crumbs
Instructions
- Using a stand mixer or handheld mixer, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla on medium-high speed for 2-2½ minutes until smooth and fluffy.
- Reduce the speed to medium-low and add the powdered sugar 1 ½ cups at a time, alternating with 1 tablespoon of heavy cream after each addition until combined. Add more powdered sugar if needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Mix until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold in the crushed Oreos, ensuring they are finely crushed for even texture. If not using immediately, refrigerate the frosting until ready to use.
- Before serving, allow the frosting to come to room temperature for 20-30 minutes, then re-whip for 15-30 seconds until fluffy.
Notes
Ensure the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature for best results.
Finely crush the Oreos to avoid large clumps in the frosting, especially if piping is involved.
Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
