Description

This irresistible box mac and cheese recipe combines simple ingredients like Greek yogurt and hot sauce for a creamy, delightful dish. Ideal for quick dinners or comforting meals, it’s sure to become a go-to favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box kraft macaroni and cheese, or any box mac and cheese
  • 23 tablespoons pasta water, reserved from cooking
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup 2% greek yogurt, full-fat works too
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce, such as frank’s or cholula
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the macaroni noodles according to the package instructions until al dente.
  2. Reserve 2-3 tablespoons of starchy pasta water before draining the noodles, then drain in a colander.
  3. Return the empty pot to low heat, add the unsalted butter and let it melt completely.
  4. Whisk in the Greek yogurt, reserved pasta water, hot sauce, and ground black pepper into the melted butter until smooth and well combined.
  5. Sprinkle the cheese powder packet into the sauce and stir until smooth; add more pasta water if needed for desired consistency.
  6. Mix the drained macaroni back into the pot and stir until fully coated in the creamy cheese sauce. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of hot sauce based on your spice preference.
You can add extras like cooked bacon or vegetables for added flavor and texture.
This dish is best enjoyed immediately after preparation.
