Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup (93g) all purpose flour
- ¾ cup (64g) quick cook oats
- ¾ cup (150g) packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 6 tablespoons (78g) cold unsalted butter, diced
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 pound strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 cups blueberries, frozen or fresh
- ½ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons (24g) cornstarch
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and salt to make the crumble. Cut in the diced butter with a pastry cutter until it resembles small crumbs, and set aside.
- In another bowl, gently toss the strawberries and blueberries with sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Spread this mixture evenly in the bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan.
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the berry layer and press down slightly to compact it.
- Bake for 30-33 minutes until the crust is browned and the topping looks crunchy. Enjoy it warm or at room temperature with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
For a twist, try adding raspberries or blackberries to the berry mixture for a different flavor profile.
Ensure the crumble is evenly distributed for consistent baking results.
Let the crisp cool slightly before serving to allow the filling to set.
