- 4 cups pears (peeled and thinly sliced from 5–6 pears)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup rolled oats (gluten free, if needed)
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour (gluten free, if needed)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts (optional, chopped)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the pears, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- In the same bowl, mix together the oats, flour, and brown sugar. Add in chopped pecans or walnuts if desired.
- Cut the butter into the dry mixture using a fork or pastry cutter until crumbles form.
- Sprinkle the crumbles evenly over the pear mixture in the baking dish.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are bubbling around the edges. Let cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, at room temperature or chilled.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute regular flour with gluten-free flour.
Feel free to substitute the nuts with your favorite type or omit them altogether.
