Description

This Salmon Bowl highlights tender pieces of salmon marinated in a delightful mix of soy sauce and honey, topped with zesty orange. It’s a quick and healthy meal perfect for any occasion, served over rice and sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillets cut into 1-inch pieces
  • ½ teaspoon salt divided
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 large orange juiced and zested, about ½ cup of juice and 1 teaspoon of zest
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil divided
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon dry and season with ¼ teaspoon salt and pepper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, orange zest, orange juice, ginger, and sesame oil. Add the salmon and toss gently. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat 1 teaspoon vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Using a slotted spoon, remove the salmon from the marinade (reserve marinade) and add to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes without stirring, until lightly browned. Flip and cook another 2 minutes, or until just cooked through. Set aside on a plate.
  5. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Lower heat to medium and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Add salmon back to the sauce and stir to coat.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the salmon marinate for longer than 10 minutes if you have time.
Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the bowl for added nutrition.
Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of honey based on your preference.
