- ½ teaspoon black pepper (divided)
- ¼ teaspoon ground sage
- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium yellow onion (sliced)
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Pound the chicken breasts between plastic wrap to achieve an even ½-inch thickness.
- Season both sides of the chicken with garlic powder, salt, sage, thyme, and ¼ teaspoon black pepper.
- Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and sauté until softened.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions, stirring constantly for about 1 minute.
- Gradually add the chicken broth, stirring to prevent lumps, and bring to a simmer.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and sauté until fully cooked and the sauce thickens.
